I've been following the dev progress of qTip for a few months now. We've already put rc3 into production on a limited basis, but I'd like to begin expanding our use and moving to the current development trunk, since it looks like much has improved. I was wondering what the general thoughts are regarding how stable trunk is. I've noticed it's still getting quite a few checkins. Is the api on trunk stable enough to be put into general use (with the understanding, of course, that it is still prerelease with all the applicable conditions and caveats)?
dazuma, at this point I believe the trunk is in the late alpha stage, so its really up to people like you to take it into the beta stage and report as many bugs as possible before initial release.

I've been tinkering with the idea lately of simply fixing many of the issues of RC3 (which are currently being actively developed in our fellow user Dustin Moore's github branch) and releasing that as 1.0 as would be expected. The trunk would then be released as 2.0 as, for all intensive purposes, it's a complete rewrite of the library.

So in short, I'd say trunk is ready for production use on limited basis, but you're bound to run into bugs along the way and I'd encourage you to actively report them so we can get it stable enough for a full scale point-o release.
